BMed FRACP, Neurologist
Dr Bronwyn Jenkins is a neurologist with subspecialty interests in headache and stroke. She is an Honorary Medical Officer at Royal North Shore Hospital.
She did a fellowship in stroke at Royal North Shore Hospital, prior to pursuing an interest in headache. She was one of the Australian delegates sent to the International Headache Society Headache Master School in Tokyo in 2013. Headache and migraine are disorders with a high level of disability and her key interest is in the clinical management of these disorders, as well as general neurology.
She is Immediate Past President and recent Chair of the Education Subcommittee for the Australian and New Zealand Headache Society (ANZHS). She organised the International Headache Society Headache Master School held in Sydney in 2018 and she continues to organise the ANZHS annual scientific meeting. She has been an invited speaker for approximately 100 lectures in headache management.
She has coordinated a course for headache in the postgraduate pain management program for Sydney University, as well as trainee and student teaching. She has been involved in current research projects for headache, both investigator initiated and randomised controlled trials for migraine.
In addition, she was previously on the Board of Directors and currently on the education and ethics committees of the International Headache Society (IHS), which also aim to improve the management of headache internationally. She is an active member of the Asian Regional Consortium for Headache (ARCH).
Whilst education, research and collaboration are useful areas in neurology, Dr Jenkin’s main goal is to be an interested, conscientious and empathic clinician. Headache remains a fascinating area requiring clearly communicated and individualised strategies.
